Where has the time gone?

I can hardly believe that Liliana's 15 month mark happened without me even realizing it. She's been through a lot lately, two very busy with school parents, a double ear infection that got worse instead of better that we've been battling for almost a month now, and teething for -I kid you not- 8 months straight. We're up to 12 teeth now. And still nursing on occasion. Longest I've gone with any of the 3 kids. At least she doesn't bite lol.

With Halloween just past, Thanksgiving right around the corner, and Christmas only 6 weeks away, and finals for both Doug and I somewhere in there, I don't see the stress level lowering at all in the house any time soon. Lili's happy little face though, and incoherent chattering, remind me how blessed I am. Don't get me wrong, I love the other kids just as much. But as they grow up and get more independent, they want less cuddle time with their mom.

So for Christmas this year we've decided to some big group presents for the kids in addition to a few smaller individual things. They constantly want to play on either Doug's computer or mine but usually at an inconvenient time. With all the spare components laying around the house, we are building them their own system. Just enough to play their little games or go on the Disney website or whatnot. Nothing fancy but enough to keep them happy.
The other major gift we've decided on is setting up the fish tank we have and getting the kids each their own hermit crab. They seem to be pretty easy pets to have, as long as you maintain their humid environment. We'll set up the tank and give that to the kids Christmas morning, and then take them to the pet store and let them each pick out their own crab. It won't be a very big Christmas this year, but I think it will be a happy one:) I'm making my presents for Doug, and I'm really excited about what I've come up with so far. Just hope I get it all done in time!

Well looks like Lili just got into a black ink pad and got it all over herself so I guess my time here is done for now. Ciao!

Old blog, renewed

"Smile at each other, smile at your wife, smile at your husband, smile at your children, smile at each other - it doesn't matter who it is and that will help you to grow up in greater love for each other." - Mother Teresa

Today I made the decision to revamp this blog; import old pregnancy entries from my other blog back to here, change the title, look, etc. My dearest love is also a contributor now and has promised to post from time to time. Basically this spot will be dedicated to posting things about the kids, both for others to read and for them, when they are older. As I write this, the faerie is playing computer games, the pirate in training is watching the original Batman movie, and the monkey is playing with a peacock feather and whining for dinner. So go cook I shall.

Over and out.

Aug 31, 3 weeks 3 days post baby

Well it’s been a few weeks now and I thought I should take a minute and post the events of Liliana’s birthday:)

We decided to induce a week early, as you already know. So the morning of Aug 7 we went to the hospital and were admitted just a little after 7am. I was started on IV fluids and had to lay on my side while they asked me a ton of questions about my medical history and whatnot because the baby’s heart rate was really high (as in around 200 bpm) and that’s not necessarily a good thing. Thankfully after a little bit it went back down, it was so high due to the little bit of caffine I’d had that morning before we got to the hospital. Once we knew she was ok, my pitocin was started around 9am. Contractions took a little while to show up and when they did thankfully they weren’t too painful.

A lot of people think that being induced means a more painful labor but really, I guess it depends on who is administering your medication. My nurse started the drip really slowly so that I wouldn’t be hit all at once and the drugs would simulate more natural labor. It’s a lot easier on your body that way. So when my dr came in to check on me around 10am, I was still doing really good. I was about 3cm at that point and 70% or so effaced and the decision was made to break my water and let that help the contractions, rather than up the meds.

I had to stay on the monitor for a while longer to make sure that the combination of the meds and my water being broken wasn’t too hard on the baby, and then they let me get up and walk around for a while. Doug and my mom walked the L&D hallways with me for probably about an hour when I decided I needed to sit down because the pressure on my hips was just getting too much. Back in the room I sat on one of the birthing balls that were available and tried to relax. Gravity is a wonderful thing and sitting on the ball really helped, because my contractions in that position were much stronger than when I was laying in the bed or even walking around.

I think I was on the ball for about an hour or so when we decided to move me into the tub in the bathroom. Standing up off the ball was about the grossest thing ever, since my water had been broken there was a huge gush when I got up and I left a nice big puddle on the floor and a trail from there to the bathroom. It just looked like water but it felt like I was peeing everywhere lol. Anyway I got in the tub, turned on the jets, and put a cold washcloth on my head. The water really helped me back, though the contractions slowed down again. 4 cm now.

After about 45 minutes or so I got out of the tub and back into bed and back on the monitors. 5 cm. At this point we decided to get some kind of pain relief because contractions were now about 3 minutes apart, lasting 1.5-2 mins each. I was checked again when the meds were started (no epidural, I had half Demerol and half something else. Half of this was administered through my IV, the other half went into my hip via shot) and was at 7cm. I was told to pay attention to my contractions and when my body started to push without me controlling it, we were probably ready to go.

Not 10 minutes later (without the medication kicking in at all, I might add) we were calling the dr to come deliver me. 3 minutes, 1 contraction, and 3 pushes later and Liliana was here. Most of the last hour was really fuzzy to me, I remember being on my left side, gripping the side of the bed, closing my eyes and trying not to cry. I remember yelling at Doug not to touch my hip or lower back because it made the pain worse. I remember asking what the baby was since no one had told me. Doug cut the cord before they put her on my stomach, but I missed that. I had to ask later. It was kind of like I was in this really painful dream and when I woke up I had another hospital bracelet on (which I do not remember being put on me) and a crying baby on my chest. They had to sew me up while Lili had her checks done (8 & 9 APGAR scores) because I ended up tearing a bit since she came out so fast.

Liliana Grace was born at 4:15pm, 8lb, 20.75 inches after about 7hours of labor. She had a little scratch on her forehead from when they broke my water, but her head was barely coned at all and she has a tiny red birthmark on the very top of her head. She also has the same birthmark that Kaetlynn has, a red patch in the middle of her forehead that only shows up when she’s really mad, and my same crooked toe that both of the other kids have as well. She is absolutely perfect, only crying if she’s hungry or gets ignored for too long. She sleeps pretty good at night too, though we have had our share of nights that she wants to be up all night. Not to cry, just to hang out. Still means we don’t get to sleep. Doug has been amazing helping in the middle of the night if I just can’t handle it anymore. Logan loves his “baby stister” and kisses her all the time. Kaety says that Lili is the number 2 princess, she is still number 1. I see some sister-rivalry happening later on in life… I have lost about 20 lbs already (which is more than I gained during the pregnancy, so so far I’m coming out ahead) and did my first workout yesterday to get my abs/core back into shape and I’m sore as hell because of it, but in a good way :) .

As I write this Lili is reminding me that she wants attention so I need to get back to the chair where I spend 90% of my day feeding my newest little pig.

Aug 6, 39 weeks

Your baby matches up to a mini-watermelon, weighing a bit over 7 pounds. (Length: about 20 inches, head to heel.)

Well folks this is it, my last entry before the baby gets here. I can say this with certainty because I’m being induced tomorrow. So far my last day as a mother of 2 has been good, we’ve cleaned a lot of the day and my parents are here now playing with the kids. Tonight will be spent finishing up last minute cleaning and making sure everything is in my bag for the morning. And then we finally get to meet this little person:)

How far along? 39 weeks
Due Date: August 13, 2010

Total inches gain: +.25 from last week, 44in. Total gain of 15 inches.
Maternity clothes? very few still fit
Sleep: i’m so tired all the time that it doesn’t really matter how much i hurt, unless i have to pee i’m going to sleep
Best moment this week: had my last dr apt on Wednesday:)
Food cravings: um, nothing specific, food has been kind of gross again actually. maybe since i have no room for a stomach.
Food aversions: nothing specific
Gender: mom thinks it’s a boy. we’ll find out tomorrow!
Labor Signs: same as always
Belly Button in or out? top is out, bottom is flat
What I miss: having my own body
What I am looking forward to: seeing my baby tomorrow!
Milestones: this is it, the very end. i’ve spent the last 39 weeks, this entire year and then some, pregnant. i feel slightly nostalgic.

Other: On the one hand i cannot wait for tomorrow. it’s finally over! On the other hand i am terrified. I know I’ve done this before, but it doesn’t seem to matter. I’m about to have more children than I have hands. I really have no idea what I’m going to do. Doug will be home with me through Wednesday, and then my mom is coming back for Thursday-Saturday so I won’t be alone for the first week, but then I’m on my own. I’m as ready as I’m gonna be, but at the same time, I still feel totally unprepared. Well no use stressing about it I guess, what happens happens, God is in control, and we’ll all be fine. Next post will be about the birth!

July 30, 38 weeks

Your baby, now as long as a leek, weighs nearly 7 pounds. (Length: more than 19 1/2 inches, head to heel.)

I found out this week that all the contractions i’ve been having are actually doing something! i’m dilated to 2cm already, 50% effaced, and baby is at -1 station. yay! now if contractions would only get closer together…

How far along? 38 weeks
Due Date: August 13, 2010

Total inches gain: looks like i’m at about the same, 43.75 in. baby has pretty much dropped so it’s really not surprising.
Maternity clothes? very few still fit
Sleep: only if i can get really comfortable…i’m up about every 2 hours regardless though.
Best moment this week: dr apt on tuesday, got the good news that labor is imminent:)
Food cravings: spaghetti-os
Food aversions: nothing specific
Gender: logan wants a baby sister now
Labor Signs: contractions are painful now, just not close enough together. the other night they were about 9-12 mins apart for a good 3-4 hours, and they just can’t seem to get closer together than that.
Belly Button in or out? top is out, bottom is in-ish…
What I miss: having my own body
What I am looking forward to: labor. enough said.
Milestones: only 2 weeks left. 14 days. hopefully it won’t be that long! from this point on baby is only going get bigger, it’s completely ready to be born! now if it would only decide to make an entrance. my water can break any time now, i’m cool with that…

Other: im so so tired of being pregnant now that it isn’t funny. the end is in sight. and the thought of 2 more weeks seems so long. dr said on tuesday that there are 2 halves to pregnancy…the first 38 weeks and the last 2. he was so right.

July 23, 37 weeks

Your baby is as lofty as a stalk of Swiss chard and weighs 6 1/3 pounds. (Length: a bit over 19 inches, head to heel.)

Ultrasound on Tuesday showed that I’m measuring a week ahead of where we are, and baby is almost 7 1/2 lbs already. Now, that could be a pound either way but still, if I go to term, this is going to be a huge baby. Or at least not small. And I don’t remember if I mentioned before, but we finally picked names! However, I’m not going to post them on here. If you don’t know already, you’re just gonna have to wait :p

How far along? 37 weeks
Due Date: August 13, 2010
Total weight gain/loss:+1 from last week
Total inches gain: used a different tape measure today and it says i’ve lost inches…..unless baby has dropped (which i’m pretty sure it hasn’t yet) i dont’ see how this is possible…
Maternity clothes? almost don’t’ fit anymore either.
Sleep: i don’t really
Best moment this week: my ultrasound on tuesday:) video is here for those of you on my facebook:)
Food cravings: fruit still. i’m getting pineapple at the store tonight, which is supposed to help bring on labor…
Food aversions: sometimes things sound gross but nothing in particular
Gender: the ultrasound pictures look almost exactly like Logan’s ultrasound at 37 weeks…which makes me really feel that it’s a boy.
Labor Signs: cramps, contractions, pain, throwing up, blah blah blah…
Belly Button in or out? top is out, bottom is in-ish…
What I miss: being skinny :(
What I am looking forward to: getting this baby out of me.
Milestones: 37 weeks, 21 days left, it’s just a waiting game now. a game i am sick of playing…both my mom and mil think i will go early, so here’s to hoping they’re right

Other: we’re going to start “trying” now to get this baby out. hopefully something works!

July 16, 36 weeks

So my crazy story for the week. I went on Tuesday to have my dr apt. Well, he had just left to do a delivery. I said I would wait but it turned out to be an emergency c-section so we rescheduled me for Wednesday afternoon. I get there on Wed, they get me in right away bc dr has another patient laboring and they could get the call any minute for him to deliver her. I get into the room and what should happen but that phone call comes in. Another emergency section. Again I say I’ll wait bc I dont’ want to have to come back AGAIN. The nurses send pretty much everyone else home so I’ll be first when he gets back. They get the call that the surgery is done so I’m told to undress as we are doing an exam. Well, 5 minutes later we find out he got called into ANOTHER delivery. Regular one this time so shouldn’t take too long. Off the table again, back into clothes, sit back to wait. He finally gets back and I see him an hour and a half after my apt time. It was fine though, I was out of the house with no kids, sitting in AC. Can’t complain too much.

Anyway, everything is looking good even though I haven’t gained any weight since my apt 3 weeks ago. I go in every week now, had my last lab work done, and have an ultrasound scheduled for this coming Tuesday afternoon. Also I’ve been given clearance to deliver, so should I go into labor they will do nothing to stop it. The exam triggered some pretty decent contractions and bleeding, so I honestly dont’ think it will be too much longer that we have to wait!

How far along? 36 weeks
Due Date: August 13, 2010
Total weight gain/loss:+0 for the last 3 weeks, which makes it +10 total (or +15, depending on where you start counting). I’m measuring just fine though so the baby must be gaining and I’m losing at the same rate…lol
Total inches gain: +.5 from 2 weeks ago, +14.75 total
Maternity clothes? almost don’t’ fit anymore either.
Sleep: i’m up every hour and a half to two hours to pee.
Best moment this week: logan and doug both loving on my belly
Food cravings: fruit. i made peach cobbler the other night for the first time. it was really yummy.
Food aversions: sometimes things sound gross but nothing in particular
Gender: according to most people, its a girl
Labor Signs: cramps, contractions, we know i’ve started to dilate and efface, and i had some pretty decent bleeding after my exam the other day (so we know my body is definitely close to being ready).
Belly Button in or out? kind of half and half, if that makes sense.
What I miss: being able to bend over (to pick things up, shave my legs, whatever) without effort
What I am looking forward to: ultrasound on tuesday!
Milestones: I’m safe to deliver now! 28 days left. The general consensus is though that I will go in the next 2-3 weeks. As long as I can make it to next friday I’ll be happy.

Other: I have lists now of things still to pack in my hospital bag, and things still to get done around the house. Unfortunately, most of the things that need to get done I can’t do without help.

July 9, 35 weeks

Your baby, now as hefty as a honeydew melon at 5 1/4 pounds, doesn’t have much room to maneuver in your belly. (Length: more than 18 inches, head to heel.)

it was a fairly uneventful week, thankfully, apart from the horrendous heat that has plagued us the past several days. hopefully next week will be cooler…

How far along? 35 weeks
Due Date: August 13, 2010
Total weight gain/loss: for the 2nd week in a row the scale is not cooperating. but i feel huge. that is enough.
Total inches gain: since i can’t find my measuring tape, this will have to be updated later.
Maternity clothes? this question is really getting redundant…
Sleep: i consider it a good night if i can get to sleep without tylenol.
Best moment this week: i honestly can’t think of anything in particular, sad i know. no terrible contractions or anything though so i guess that’s a good thing.
Food cravings: deep fried pickles still. don’t judge.
Food aversions: not really anything anymore which is nice
Gender: erin is insisting it’s a girl
Labor Signs: about the same, nothing else terribly scary has happened. i’ve been really achy and kind of crampy today though.
Belly Button in or out? kind of half and half, if that makes sense.
What I miss: being comfortable…
What I am looking forward to: dr apt on tuesday.
Milestones: only 35 days left. eep! also baby is basically completely developed now, and will just spend the next few weeks putting on inches and weight.

Other: im tired. so tired. and i WANT to get things done, i just don’t have the energy to do it. boo. also i’m just about too fat to paint my own toenails. also boo.

July 2, 34 weeks

Your baby has bulked up like the average cantaloupe — to about 4 3/4 pounds. (Length: almost 18 inches, head to heel.)

This week wasn’t too bad aside from our visit to L&D last weekend for cramping and some spotting, don’t worry everything’s fine. I was told to keep the baby in there until 37 weeks. Well folks, that’s only 3 weeks away. It doesn’t feel like nearly enough time to get ready! In other news, our basement is finally cleared out and Doug has started clearing the garage so there’s actually room to put things now, and stuff like the bassinet has been pulled out, and we can actually access the baby car seat now. Improvement! On to the nitty gritty…

How far along? 34 weeks
Due Date: August 13, 2010
Total weight gain/loss: scale is dumb today so i have no idea. doug will have to fix it when he gets home…
Total inches gain: +.5, at 43.25 now
Maternity clothes? this question is really getting redundant…
Sleep: really hit or miss. my hips hurt so bad right now that it’s mostly miss.
Best moment this week: Logan was playing the “my mommy, my baby” game again this morning, that was really cute
Food cravings: deep fried pickles ftw
Food aversions: not really anything anymore which is nice
Gender: i’ve been told that a baby betting poll is going to start soon since the votes, as far as friends have told me, are pretty split in half
Labor Signs: remember my prediction from last week? well, saturday night i was in L&D for preterm labor. the long and short of things is that i am dilated to almost 2, about 40% effaced, baby at -3, and am still having contractions several times a day. I see my dr on the 13th and will probably get checked that day, and we’ll see how much longer we have to wait.
Belly Button in or out? kind of half and half, if that makes sense.
What I miss: being comfortable…
What I am looking forward to: my next ultrasound in a few weeks:) and getting more things done on the house this weekend to get ready.
Milestones: 6 weeks left, and if baby were to be born now, aside from a short NICU stay (providing nothing was wrong), baby would be fine:)

Other: yesterday was my 25th birthday, and tonight we’re going out to celebrate. we have, perhaps, fewer choices of things to do since i’m pregnant but i’m looking forward to the time alone with my husband. this may be the last real chance we get to go out alone before baby gets here.

June 25, 33 weeks

Your baby is proportioned like a pineapple when it comes to weight — a little over 4 pounds. (Length: more than 17 inches, head to heel.)

How far along? 33 weeks
Due Date: August 13, 2010
Total weight gain/loss: my scale isn’t working but at my apt on wednesday i was at 165, which is about the same as last week, and +10 total from when i started weighing.
Total inches gain: +.5 from last week, and when i went back and looked at where i was when i started this fiasco, that means i have gained about 13.75 inches. youch.
Maternity clothes? this question is really getting redundant…
Sleep: i miss sleep. i can’t get comfortable anymore.
Best moment this week: the other day the kids were fighting over who got to touch my belly and kiss baby. cuteness. and last night doug came home with cherry chocolate ice cream and said that he bought it because i deserved it. i asked why and he said “for growing a person and dealing with the other 2 kids all day.” i married a very sweet man.
Movement: i’m fairly sure i have internal bruising from this kid. seriously.
Food cravings: yesterday it was a cookies & cream hersheys bar and chili cheese fritos. don’t judge :p
Food aversions: not really anything anymore which is nice
Gender: well a friend of mine had a dream that it’s a boy, but someone else told me this morning they think it’s a girl.
Labor Signs: contractions all the time. with pressure. i’m gonna end up in L&D one of these days.
Belly Button in or out? it’s more of a dimple now…
What I miss: being comfortable…
What I am looking forward to: getting my bedroom organized this weekend so the baby has somewhere to sleep.
Milestones: 7 weeks left, only 4 until i’m term. by july 23 we need to be ready to go! *grabs a towel and tries not to panic…lol*

Other: I’m babysitting a friend of mine’s kids today…so i have two 4 year olds, one 2 year old, and one 6 month old. who is screaming now bc she needs a diaper change. no matter what anyone says this is not practice; for one, i will only have 3, for two, it’s totally different when it’s your own kids. it’s gonna be a long day…

June 18, 32 weeks

Your baby is taking up more and more space in your uterus and weighs as much as a large jicama — about 3 3/4 pounds. (Length: about 16 3/4 inches, head to heel.)

Today is far too hot to be comfortable, and I have gotten no chores done yet. So this is going to be short today…

How far along? 32 weeks
Due Date: August 13, 2010
Total weight gain/loss: +3 from last week
Total inches gain: about the same as last week.
Maternity clothes? this question is really getting redundant…
Sleep: as long as i don’t have to pee i sleep all right.
Best moment this week: i think probably my favorite moment this week was the other night i was laying in bed reading and doug came and laid down next to me and was kinda rubbing my belly, it was really sweet:)
Movement: yes. it moves. a lot.
Food cravings: oreos…shhh…
Food aversions: not really anything anymore which is nice
Gender: kaety decided that since jade and allyssa don’t live here anymore the baby should be a girl…
Labor Signs: i actually had to start timing contractions yesterday boo-urns.
Belly Button in or out? it’s getting more flat every day.
What I miss: energy
What I am looking forward to: i get to go swimming tomorrow, which ought to relieve a lot of stress on my back, at least for a little while:)
Milestones: only 8 weeks left, baby has hair now, as well as finger and toe nails:)

Other: We went to the Kids Fest today down at the fair grounds and Kaety won for us a free 16×20 portrait for us from Sears. That size is normally about $100. Which means that we can get a really nice picture of all 3 kids taken in September:)

June 11, 31 weeks

Your baby now weighs as much as four navel oranges. (Length: over 16 inches, head to heel.)

I had a dr apt this morning, which went really well. BP was good, my weight gain and measurements are right on track, and when I had them check how baby is positioned, it’s already head down. Not saying that can’t change in the next 9 weeks but it’s a good sign. I go back in 2 weeks and we do it all over again!

How far along? 31 weeks
Due Date: August 13, 2010
Total weight gain/loss: -3 according to my scale, +1 from my last dr visit, putting me at 162 even.
Total inches gain: +.5, 42.25 now
Maternity clothes? this question is really getting redundant…
Sleep: as long as i can get comfortable i sleep ok. if i’m not feeling sick.

Food cravings: peanut butter.
Food aversions: not really anything anymore which is nice

Labor Signs: braxton hicks several times a day, starting to get more painful
Belly Button in or out? it’s getting more flat every day.
What I miss: energy
What I am looking forward to: lunch tomorrow with my due date buddy Amy! And not being so clumsy anymore, I just knocked a candle off of Doug’s dresser and broke it, and I wasn’t even touching it. awesome.
Milestones: baby’s lungs are functional and won’t collapse. score.

Other: I get to have another ultrasound next month, between 36 and 37 weeks:) That makes 4 total for this pregnancy, the most I have ever had for one baby. I am excited.

June 4, 30 weeks

Your baby rivals a good-size cabbage in weight, tipping the scales this week at 3 pounds. (Length: about 15 3/4 inches, head to heel.)

tick, tock, tick, tock, time is flying. the bigger i get the more pressure is on my already crappy knee, which is not exactly appreciating the extra weight. i was thinking this morning that i should start getting stuff like my hospital bag together just in case this baby decides to try and come early like the other 2 wanted to do. i have no energy at all. i really need to find some so i can get chores done…

How far along? 30 weeks
Due Date: August 13, 2010
Total weight gain/loss: +just under 1lb
Total inches gain: my tape measure says the same #. curious.
Maternity clothes? this question is really getting redundant…
Sleep: as long as i can get comfortable i sleep ok. if i’m not feeling sick.
Best moment this week: i cant’ think of any one specific best moment from this week, i do have a worse one however; we were grocery shopping, i’d been on my feet for maybe a few hours, and i had to stop because i started getting pains and really bad pressure from the baby. scary stuff. it lasted for a good 2 or 3 hours even with resting as soon as we got home.
Movement: i dont’ think this baby knows how to sit still
Food cravings: nothing in particular which makes eating kind of hard

Gender: “if it doesn’t have a tail it’s not a monkey…”
Labor Signs: braxton hicks several times a day, starting to get more painful
Belly Button in or out? i barely have a belly button anymore. doug was poking it yesterday. not funny.
What I miss: pain-free hips
What I am looking forward to: organizing. i need space.
Milestones: 30 weeks, only 10 left.

Other: i started a workout regime this week to try and keep myself at least a little in shape…nothing more strenuous than some different leg lifts and arm exercises with my resistance band plus stretching, but at least i feel like i’m doing SOMETHING other than sitting around getting fat.

May 28, 29 weeks

May 21, 28 weeks

Your baby is equal in weight to a Chinese cabbage — about 2 1/4 pounds. (Length: almost 15 inches, from head to heel.)

3rd trimester. 84 days to go. That’s only 12 weeks, people. it seems both like miles away and just around the bend. i feel like my time is running out to get ready!

How far along? 28 weeks
Due Date: August 13, 2010
Total weight gain/loss: +.5, at almost 162.5 now
Total inches gain: +.25, 41.25 in
Maternity clothes? this question is really getting redundant…
Sleep: i’m up about every hour and a half to pee
Best moment this week: the other afternoon Logan came in my room after his nap (i was laying down too) and got up on my bed and laid his head on my belly for a while, it was really sweet
Movement: baby has pretty regular patterns of activity and sleep now
Food cravings: salty foods, chocolate, peanut butter
Food aversions: not really anything anymore which is nice
Gender: well it can’t be genderless, can it?
Labor Signs: braxton hicks several times a day
Belly Button in or out? in, though less than it used to be
What I miss: pain-free hips
What I am looking forward to: organizing. i need space.
Milestones: we are officially in the 3rd trimester now, i’d say that’s a pretty huge milestone

Other: our list of possible boy names has increased to 4, we’ll see how long it actually takes us to agree on one though. middle name is already chosen, which is both a help and a hinder in choosing a first name…

May 14, 27 weeks

Your baby is as hefty as a head of cauliflower, weighing in at almost 2 pounds. (Length: about 14 1/2 inches.)

How far along? 27 weeks
Due Date: August 13, 2010
Total weight gain/loss: +1
Total inches gain: +.25
Maternity clothes? yes
Sleep: not really. i can’t get comfortable for more than 20 minutes at a time.
Best moment this week: had a dr apt on tuesday, and everything is right on track and looking awesome:)
Movement: it was entertaining to watch my stomach last night as baby was dancing or something, it looked like something was trying to eat its’ way out of me.
Food cravings: salty foods
Food aversions: not really anything anymore which is nice
Gender: Logan decided he wants it to be a girl so he doesn’t have to share his stuff
Labor Signs: braxton hicks several times a day
Belly Button in or out? in, though less than it used to be
What I miss: getting out of bed without hurting lol
What I am looking forward to: organizing. i need space.
Milestones: had my glucose test this week, hopefully soon we’ll have the results of that and they will be good!

Other: I realized the other day that if I’m going to get my baby blanket made it has to get done soon, or this kid will be like 20 before I finish it. Now just to find the time/energy to work on it…On top of that, we really need to decide on a name….we have one pretty much set for a girl, boys names are harder though…

May 7, 26 weeks

Your baby is as tall as an English hothouse cucumber and weighs about 1 2/3 pounds. (Length: 14 inches, head to heel.)

I was laying in bed this morning with Logan thinking how nice it was to have my baby cuddle with me…only he’s not a baby anymore. His baby face is even gone. He’s a big boy now. And part of me really misses when he was little. And then I remember that in a few short weeks I get to start all over again and then I won’t miss it anymore. And then I’ll wonder what exactly I was thinking when I have to manage 3 kids with 2 hands…

How far along? 26 weeks
Due Date: August 13, 2010
Total weight gain/loss: +1 from 2 weeks ago when my scale actually worked
Total inches gain: +.25
Maternity clothes? yes
Sleep: if i didn’t have to pee all the time…
Best moment this week: Doug was laying on my stomach and baby kicked him in the ear. It was quite entertaining.
Movement: this is going to be an active child…
Food cravings: peanut butter and chocolate
Food aversions: not really anything anymore which is nice
Gender: Doug says “naga”.
Labor Signs: braxton hicks several times a day
Belly Button in or out? in, though less than it used to be
What I miss: getting out of bed without hurting lol
What I am looking forward to: organizing. i need space.
Milestones: less than 100 days now! geesh. no time at all.

Other: A friend of mine told me the other day that maybe I should register somewhere for the stuff that I don’t have anymore (ie things the kids have broken, like their old bouncy chair, or for clothes etc that got destroyed when my basement flooded last fall and all those boxes of baby stuff got ruined). So maybe I’ll do that soon. We’ll see.

Apr 30, 25 weeks

Your baby rivals the average rutabaga in weight — about 1 1/2 pounds. (Length: 13 1/2 inches, head to heel.)

So, the itching hasn’t gone away yet but it’s less than it was before which I guess is a good sign. I see my dr again in a week and a half so hopefully he’ll have some good news. I’m going to keep this short today because I am STARVING. I need to go find lunch.

How far along? 25 weeks
Due Date: August 13, 2010
Total weight gain/loss: since this is another day that my scale has decided not to work, i have no idea. i can tell you for sure that i’ve gained SOMETHING though
Total inches gain: +1 from last week, I’m at 40.75 now
Maternity clothes? the hotter it gets and the bigger I get the less I have that fits. Regular tshirts are too short for me now. I’m going to have to go shopping again…
Sleep: i love sleep. unfortunately, it doesnt’ love me.
Best moment this week: Watching my belly move is always cool:)
Movement: this is going to be an active child…
Food cravings: peanut butter and chocolate
Food aversions: not really anything anymore which is nice
Gender: Doug made a comment yesterday about how I’m carrying really low. That indicates a boy.
Labor Signs: braxton hicks several times a day
Belly Button in or out? in, though less than it used to be
What I miss: being able to have a drink if i want it. Sometimes you just have one of those days…
What I am looking forward to: organizing. i need space.
Milestones: I guess the realization that I have 15 weeks or less to get ready. That hit me kind of hard.

Other: Logan came up to me yesterday and said, “Baby hug and kiss?” So I lifted up my shirt so he could kiss my belly and he laid his cheek down on it and says, “Love you baby.” It was absolutely the cutest thing EVER.

Apr 23, 24 weeks

our baby has caught up with an ear of corn in size and gained about 1/4 pound since last week. (Length: almost a foot.)

6 month mark today. Only 4 months to go. I got a comment last night at Kaety’s family night at school that there is no way I’m 6 months already, I don’t look it at all. I took that as a compliment. I don’t FEEL small, however, since virtually none of my pre-pregnancy clothes fit me anymore, and my supply of warm-weather maternity stuff is limited. I may have to convince Doug to go let me buy some more stuff so I have more than 3 or 4 shirts and 2 pants that fit me. Oh well. On another note, I have been promising Ultrasound pictures for a while now, but my scanner has been afk. Well, I resorted to taking pictures of some of them with my camera and then uploading them, so they’re not the best quality but you can still basically tell what you’re looking at. Those will be at the end of the post :)

How far along? 24 weeks
Due Date: August 13, 2010
Total weight gain/loss: +3 from last week, +5 total now. I guess I’m making up what I didn’t gain the past 6 months pretty quickly!
Total inches gain: +.5 from last week, I’m at 39.75 now
Maternity clothes? it’s all that fits me
Sleep: less elusive this week than previously
Best moment this week: heard baby again with my stethoscope. always cool.
Movement: it’s getting difficult to sit down now for long periods of time bc baby doesn’t like being squished. laying even remotely on my stomach isn’t an option anymore either, it makes baby reeeeeally mad.
Food cravings: peanut butter
Food aversions: not really anything anymore which is nice
Gender: yes, it has a gender. lol
Labor Signs: braxton hicks several times a day
Belly Button in or out? in, though less than it used to be
What I miss:coffee (shh i had a cup this morning. it was delicious)
What I am looking forward to: having space in my house so that my bedroom can be rearranged and i can get things ready
Milestones: today marks 6 months. I’d say that’s pretty big.

Other: my test results came back normal, however if i continue itching they may have to repeat them, as this test is like a pregnancy test in that it could be positive for several weeks before anything actually shows up on a test. so we’ll see.

Your baby weighs about as much as a large mango — just over a pound. (Length: more than 11 inches.)

This week has been full of “interesting” developments. First of all I had a dr apt this week, everything went well. Officially I have gained 6 lbs now and baby is measuring right on track. Blood pressure and all that is normal. HOWEVER. I have been incredibly itchy for the past 3 weeks or so. And I mean my entire body. I don’t really have swelling so that’s a good sign, but at the same time this is not normal. We have ruled out allergies because I have done everything from washing all my bedding to changing laundry soap to changing body wash and nothing has helped. Benedryl will usually curb it enough to let me fall asleep, but it’s worse at night than during the day.

There is 1 of 2 things that it probably is; either PUPPPs which is a harmless but annoying rash that can develop during pregnancy and will disappear after delivery. The other thing is called ICP, or Intrahepatic Cholestasis of Pregnancy, which is potentially serious. It basically means that the liver has decided it doesn’t feel like functioning completely properly and the bile salts within your system aren’t processed like they should be and instead “leak out” and settle in your skin. It can be treated but not cured, and can cause complications, the worse of which is stillbirth. Visit this site (http://www.itchymoms.com/) to read about it if you want more details. We are hoping that it’s not ICP, however I have several of the symptoms. I had a blood test done Wednesday morning to determine if that’s what it is or not, but I won’t have the results for a few weeks.

Anyway until then, here are the stats.

How far along? 23 weeks
Due Date: August 13, 2010
Total weight gain/loss: on dr record i have gained 6 lbs now, according to my scale I am now up 2 lbs from when I started:) But at least I’m finally gaining!
Total inches gain: +.25
Maternity clothes? mostly all i wear.
Sleep: as long as i can breathe, i’m sleeping ok
Best moment this week: I can actually SEE baby move now, which is really cool.
Movement: it’s getting difficult to sit down now for long periods of time bc baby doesn’t like being squished
Food cravings: cherry pop tarts and reeses pieces
Food aversions: not really anything anymore which is nice
Gender: i just asked the kids, and logan said the baby is him, kaety said it’s a baby.
Labor Signs: braxton hicks several times a day
Belly Button in or out? in, though less than it used to be
What I miss:coffee.
What I am looking forward to: having space in my house so that my bedroom can be rearranged and i can get things ready
Milestones: the things that used to be easy, such as doing laundry or the dishes, now make me tired really fast. It’s hard to not be able to do things without feeling exhausted.

Other: i find that the more pregnant i get, the shorter my temper becomes. I don’t LIKE getting angry so quickly but it is getting harder and harder to not be frustrated at even little things.

Your baby has stretched to the size of a spaghetti squash and weighs almost a pound. (Length: nearly 11 inches.)

First we counted up to 20, now we’re counting down. 18 weeks to go. I know I’ve said it many times before and I know this summer is going to drag by, but right now it feels like time is flying. My baby is turning 2 on monday – the last 2 years have disappeared and I don’t know where the time went. And before I know it August will be here and my family will increase to 5 members, and Doug and I will have to play zones rather than man-to-man. It’s a scary thought. But I’m sure we can handle it……

How far along? 22 weeks
Due Date: August 13, 2010
Total weight gain/loss: i actually gained this week! down less than 1 lb now!
Total inches gain: +.25, just over 39in now
Maternity clothes? mostly all i wear.
Sleep: as long as i can breathe, i’m sleeping ok
Best moment this week: i can’t think of any one specific thing but it’s been really cool to have doug be able to feel all the movements now
Movement: the past few days baby has been especially active
Food cravings: cherry pop tarts
Food aversions: not really anything anymore which is nice
Gender: kaety decided that we have enough girls in the house so it should be a boy lol
Labor Signs: BH contractions have started. It feels a little early for that, but they’re not really painful just noticeable so I guess I can’t complain too much…
Belly Button in or out? in
What I miss:coffee. i have been bad the past few days though and had one cup in the morning. i know it’s not a big deal but i’ve been trying really hard to keep my caffeine intake down
What I am looking forward to: consistent warmer weather, and being done with my semester so i can work on my baby blanket!
Milestones: i guess contractions starting is a milestone of sorts…i had preterm labor with both kids and so i’m hoping that this isn’t an indication of that

Other: still itchy. it’s incredibly frustrating. Benedryl helps but i dont’ want to be taking that all the time.

21 weeks

Gender: logan said this morning he’s having a sister
Labor Signs: just occasional cramping
